Brisbane plays host to the first ODI between Australia and Pakistan on Friday and the Aussies are short price favourites to win the opening contest in the five match series.
Australia made home advantage count when completing a 3-0 series whitewash of New Zealand in early December with 68 runs being the narrowest of their three victories. Prior to that they were whitewashed themselves, 5-0 by the Proteas in South Africa. Josh Hazlewood is expected to be rested for the first ODI.
Australia Squad: Steven Smith (capt), David Warner, Pat Cummins, James Faulkner, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Chris Lynn, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Billy Stanlake, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade (wk), Adam Zampa
Pakistan were last in ODI action against the West Indies in the UAE in September / October 2016 and they won all three matches in the series. Earlier in 2016 Pakistan lost 4-1 away to England. Mohammad Irfan is a late withdrawal from the Pakistan squad and Sarfraz Ahmed looks likely to return home for family reasons.
Pakistan Squad: Azhar Ali (capt.), Sharjeel Khan, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Asad Shafique, Umar Akmal, Mohammad Rizwan, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Hasan Ali, Rahat Ali, Juniad Khan
