CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA (CSA) today congratulated its players and administrators, both past and present, who were honoured at the SA Sports Awards function in Johannesburg on Sunday evening.
The South African under-19 team that won the ICC Cricket World Cup under-19 title earlier this year, was named as Team of the Year; Free State President, Ms. Zola Thamae, was named as Administrator of the Year; former CSA and ICC President, Ray Mali, received the Steve Tshwete Lifetime Achievement award; and AB de Villiers, the Castle Lager Proteas ODI captain, received a Ministerial Excellence award.
“We take great pride on the achievements of these individuals and I extend our heartiest congratulations to all of them on behalf of the CSA Family,” commented CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat.
“As we reach the end of the year we can reflect and be proud of the many good things that have happened across so many areas of our operations.
“With the South African season now in full swing we can look forward to further highlights with the arrival of the West Indies team in the country tomorrow for their full length tour across all three formats, the Nelson Mandela Legacy Cup Challenge match; the final of the RAM SLAM T20 Challenge for our Franchises and our desire to achieve success at next year’s ICC World Cup in Australasia.
“These are indeed exciting and vibrant times for South African cricket.”
