KIA drives Global Athletics Conference 2014


The Global Athletics Conference has today announced that KIA Motors South Africa, is to become its Official Vehicle Partner, supplying its range of SUVs for the use before and during the ground-breaking conference.

For the duration of the summit, the Korean marque will provide the Sorento and Sportage SUVs for the transportation of speakers and guests.

Hosted by KwaZulu-Natal Athletics and endorsed by Athletics SA, the Global Athletics Conference delegates will discuss, analyse and focus on topics such as performance and training; innovation; commercial opportunities; sponsorship; the media; commercialisation and brand building in in what is envisaged to be a new dawn for the sport in South Africa.

It is part of what will be an annual journey of engagement, empowerment and dialogue in an effort to build and develop a highly efficient and effective athletics culture in South Africa and across the continent.

KIA KwaZulu-Natal regional representative Mark Melly said: “For 2014, the GAC is breaking new ground with the first ever conference of this nature in athletics anywhere in the world. As a growing automotive brand we understand the need to break new ground and follow a bold new vision and therefore we at KIA believe that we are a perfect match.”

KZN Athletics president Sello Mokoena said the federation was delighted to be announcing this partnership.
