THE Chevrolet Warriors are looking to home comforts to help dig them out of a horror run, knowing that victory over the bizhub Highveld Lions in the RAM SLAM T20 on Friday could be all they need to turn their season around.

Another defeat on Wednesday night left the Warriors with one win in 10 games so far this season, but after two away games in the competition they return to familiar surrounds with Friday’s game at Buffalo Park.

“We obviously need to win our home games now, it’s as simple as that,” coach Piet Botha said on Thursday. “There’s not much more to say except that we need to put in the performances on the field because I think we’re covering all of our bases off it.

“Everybody realises that, and I think it’s just about getting that one performance in so we can get the confidence going again.”

The Warriors have retained the same 13-man squad from Wednesday, but Andrew Birch and Lundi Mbane could come into contention after missing out on selection against the Dolphins.

Opposition coach Geoffrey Toyana can sympathise with the Warriors given the difficult time that the Lions had in this competition last season, but while his side go into the clash with a settled side possessing plenty of momentum, they are adamant that they won’t be guilty of complacency.

“We’re experienced enough to know that in a T20 match anything can happen – it just takes one guy to have a smashing day and take the game away, so we’re not taking anything for granted. They’re a dangerous side at home,” said Toyana.

The Lions have travelled with the same squad that was victorious in Sunday’s opener.
