CHEVROLET WARRIORS captain Colin Ingram is hoping that familiarity of format and the return of two key players can turn their fortunes around when they meet the Sunfoil Dolphins in the RAM SLAM T20 at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead on Wednesday evening.

The Warriors have endured a dismal start to the season, losing all but one of their nine fixtures across all three formats, and began their T20 campaign with a 74-run defeat to the Chevrolet Knights.

However, Ingram is optimistic about the fitness of fast bowler Rusty Theron and big-hitting batsman Christiaan Jonker, who both missed Sunday’s opener, and believes his side have the Twenty20 experience required to reverse their current trend.

“We’ve played well in this format over the years so we’ve got good confidence,” Ingram said.

“I know we didn’t have our best showing in our first game, but the guys are still confident and they know this format well so hopefully in the next couple of weeks we can get stuck in.”

While the Warriors may appear to be there for the taking given their recent form, Dolphins captain Morne van Wyk is not about to fall into the trap of taking them lightly.

“I don’t really read anything into (their poor results) – they’re maybe just on a steep learning curve at the moment because of all the new personnel,” said Van Wyk.

“In this competition it’s anybody’s game, depending on who pitches up on the day.”

The Dolphins will have Dwayne Bravo available for the first time, after the all-rounder missed Sunday’s defeat to the Lions as he attended to matters back in the West Indies.

The game gets underway at 6pm and will be shown live on SuperSport. Since the match is televised, fans attending can participate in the “Win Your Share of a Million competition” by taking a one handed clean catch. This competition is open to anybody over the age of 18 and is for South African Citizens only. Full Terms and conditions for the competition can be found at www.cricket.co.za.
