Kourtney Compton's Week 5 NFL Picks

If we have learned anything from the first month of the 2014 NFL season it’s to expect the unexpected. The balance in the league so far this season is nearly unprecedented. Thirty of the 32 teams have at least one win going into Week 5, comparable with only 2005 and 2012 before the realignment in 2002.

One-quarter of the way through the season, and 75 percent of the teams are currently either in first place or within a game of the top spot in the division. (Bleacher Report) With all these upsets you can never be 100% sure of your forecast but if there is one thing I am sure of, parity rules the NFL.

Games to watch:

Arizona Cardinals at Denver Broncos Sunday, October 5th, 2014 at 4:05pm ET

Out of the two undefeated teams left in the NFL, the more surprising has to be the Arizona Cardinals. This week they travel to Denver to take on the defending AFC Champion. Even with the loss of Carson Palmer the Cardinals have managed to beat a couple of last years playoff teams with a strong defense. But Peyton Manning on the road will be their toughest opponent thus far. I’m thinking a good Bronco offense beats a good Arizona defense and Denver comes out with the win at home.

Cincinnati Bengals at New England Patriots Sunday, October 5th, 2014 at 8:30pm ET

The Cincinnati Bengals are headed to New England to face a Patriots team coming off one of the worst defeats since the Bill Belichick dynasty began. I see Tom Brady bouncing back but he also needs the people around him to play better, namely some protection from his offensive line. However, Cincinnati is a better team all around and I have a lot more confidence in them improving to 4-0 on the road then the New England pulling it off.
