The inaugural Mr Price Sport BlogOlympics is coming to Durban!

In an exciting move to celebrate the passion of South Africa’s most popular sports and lifestyle bloggers, Mr Price Sport is proud to be hosting the inaugural Mr Price Sport BlogOlympics at Moses Mabhida Stadium, on Wednesday 13 November 2013 from 10am.

24 sports & lifestyle bloggers will compete against each other in a series of fun events, designed to make use of the fantastic ProMaster range currently available in Mr Price Sport stores. These include the Afrisak, the Waboba Ball, the Zooper Ball and the Super Frisbee. Each of the recreational games in the range have been included in events that will test the BlogOlympians’ skill in various disciplines, while bringing a light-hearted element to the competition. The Mr Price Sport BlogOlympics will consist of a series of eight events, including ‘Zooper Trooper’, an obstacle course relay and a frisbee tossing competition.

Nikki Viljoen, Marketing Manager at Mr Price Sport, says, “As one of Durban’s most iconic landmarks, Moses Mabhida Stadium is the ideal venue to host the Mr Price Sport BlogOlympics and we’re thrilled to be able to showcase this venue to the Johannesburg & Cape Town bloggers. We’re also excited to have Durban’s number one radio station on board – East Coast Radio’s Abi Ray will be participating in the event and Jane Linley-Thomas will be broadcasting live from the event between 12pm and 3pm – all adding to the day’s hype and fun.”

Viljoen says that the event has attracted great sponsors and with an individual BlogOlympian prize and an overall BlogOlympics City Champion winner up for grabs there is much to compete for. They stand a chance to win fantastic prizes at the event including an Apple iPad, a Samsung S4 smart phone, Mr Price Sport gear & vouchers, Moses Mabhida Attractions packages and more.

Samsung will also be providing the Mr Price Sport team with Samsung S4 smart phones on the day to capture and upload photos of all those not-to-be-missed moments.

Tsogo Sun is sponsoring the accommodation for the BlogOlympians at its SunSquare Suncoast Hotel, while the celebratory dinner after the event will be hosted at Durban’s popular Spiga d’Oro, in the tourism hotspot, Florida Road.

And to make sure the exhausted bloggers don’t have to do any more work than necessary, Uber will chauffeur them all back to their hotel. All they have to do is download the Uber app, select their requirements and a luxury vehicle will take them to their destination, sore feet and all!

Tanya Kovarsky, the popular sports and mommy blogger who gained huge popularity by live tweeting while running the Comrades Marathon, will also be competing, and is especially looking forward to the event. “Endorphins, fun, activity and challenges – what more could I want from a sporting event?” says Kovarsky. “We know how beneficial exercise and sport are for the heart and mind, and it’s a privilege and pleasure to take part in the first Mr Price Sport BlogOlympics. I cannot wait for the games to begin…”
