If you’ve been following the CLT20 you would have noticed how well the Lions are doing with them recently qualifying for the semi-finals, and a large reason for their success is a teenager by the name of Quinton de Kock.
He was a star player for the SA U/19 side in the recent world cup, and has been a regular starter for the Lions for quite some time now.
Another interesting thing about him is that he is quite handy with the gloves, and that is a position SA have been struggling to fill for a while now.
When I saw SA gave Tsolekile a contract I was taken aback by it at first as he is already over 30 and surely isn’t our best batting option, then I realised, and here is my theory, with Tsolekile gone, Lions will need another keeper in the SA domestic competitions, and will most likely hand the gloves over to de Kock which will give him a few more years of experience to improve his keeping ability until Tsolekile calls it quits, and we will then be left with a solid wicket keeper, in his early twenty’s that shows so much promise with the bat, and at 19 is already the best batsman/wicket-keeper we have available in my mind.
So there is no doubt in my mind that his future in SA Cricket is bright, and one that will go far in the records of South African cricketing history.
