South Africa’s dominance in water continues

Bridgitte Hartley is the latest medal winner for South Africa, and once again its in an aquatic event.

The womens K1 final saw Hartley come from behind to clinch bronze in a highly intense 500m sprint.

Its South Africa’s 5th medal, and 5th in a water event as well. Now don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t matter how they come, but I am concerned with our performances on land up to now, Mokoena disappointed big time in his long jump final, and the rest of our athletes haven’t done much other.

There is of course still hope, we have the SA mens 400m relay final, the Javelin final where we have a hot favorite in Viljoen, and the 800m womens event with Caster Semenya, and we’ve all seen what she can do.

So even with us still in search of our first medal on land, I’m confident in our chances of claiming not just one, but 2 or more medals in the events to come on land!

Nonetheless, and regardless of all this, its still already been a great showing by team South Africa at London 2012, they’ve made SA proud!
