Group A Russia v Portugal
Russia made their Confederations Cup debut when opening the tournament with a game against New Zealand on Friday and they justified the short price favourites tag with a 2-0 win. They took the lead through an own goal on 31 minutes and sealed the deal with a goal from Smolov on 69 minutes. The stats pretty much underpinned Russia’s dominance with 59% of the possession, 8 shots to 3 on target and they won the corner count 12 to 2.
Portugal are another nation making their Confed Cup tournament debut and they opened up with a 2-2 draw against Mexico. The Euro 2016 winners took the lead through Quaresma on 34 minutes but Mexico were level by half time. When Soares restored Portugal’s lead on 86 minutes it looked likely they would claim maximum points but an injury time equalizer earned Mexico a share of the spoils.
The reaction to the results of the opening matches in terms of the betting to top Group A saw Portugal eased to 12/10, Mexico can be backed at 2/1 and Russia 22/10 with New Zealand at 200/1.

Bet: Match result, draw 23/10
Portugal were no strangers to drawing group matches in Euro 2016 and we fancy this is another game that could end all square.
