The Memorial 2017, Betting Preview

Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio is the venue for the Jack Nicklaus hosted Memorial Tournament which starts on Thursday the 1st of June.

A regular stop on the PGA Tour, Muirfield Village is a par 72 layout designed by Jack Nicklaus and he regularly makes changes to the course. Wide fairways mean long hitters have some freedom but for those that stray too far the rough is challenging and length off the tee is not the big factor it was. The greens are fairly small and water is often in play. The winner is likely to be a lengthy but accurate driver with strong iron play for the challenging approach shots. Dustin Johnson tops the betting boards after an incredible year and there is plenty of quality players taking to the tee just a couple of weeks before the US Open.

30/1 and better the balance, prices correct at the time of posting but subject to change

Tony Finau each way at 40/1

A popular choice amongst punters this week Finau has course form with a T11 last year on the back of a T8 on debut. He is also in decent nick with a top 30 and a top 15 in recent weeks.

Patrick Cantlay each way at 50/1

He is playing some solid golf his year and has been knocking on the door. He makes his course debut but should enjoy the layout.

Jon Rahm each way at 12/1

He is playing some excellent golf and must be due a win. His power game will be well suited to the course and he has shown that he doesn’t need experience on a course to play well.

Bill Haas each way at 80/1

He generally goes well here although did miss the cut last year when in the midst of a poor run of form. He was T12 last week and that is enough to get me involved as he heads to Muirfield Village.
