London 7’s 2017, Betting Preview

The 2016/17 HSBC World 7’s Series moves to London for its final leg and the action takes place on the 20th and 21st May.

South Africa wrapped up the overall series title when they defeated Scotland 15-5 in the Paris 7’s a week ago and they cannot be caught now.  New Zealand took the 3rd spot in Paris with a 12-5 victory over England.

South Africa 16/10

Fiji 5/2

England 9/2

New Zealand 5/1

USA 10/1

20/1 and better the balance

Let’s take a look at the pools for the London 7’s.

Pool A: South Africa, USA, Wales, Kenya

This is a tough pool and while the Blitzbokke will be firm favourites all 3 of the teams with them in the pool are capable of pushing them close on their day.

Pool B: Scotland, France, Argentina, Russia

Scotland are playing some great rugby and must be in with a shout of defending their title. This group won’t be easy though with both France and Argentina capable of causing problems.

Pool C:  New Zealand, Fiji, Canada, Japan

Fiji will be favourites here but New Zealand showed improved form last week and Canada have a tournament win to their credit this season.

Pool D: England, Samoa, Australia, Spain

England should progress but Samoa hold the key to this pool as after a quiet season they showed signs of getting back on track in Paris. If they click then England or Australia could be in trouble.

Suggested Bet: New Zealand win at 5/1

They showed me enough last week to suggest that they are going to be back in contention next year. The Blitzbokke are the team to beat but with the title secure I feel they may relax a bit and a team like New Zealand can take advantage.
