The first Qualifier in IPL 2017 takes place on Tuesday when Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant get first shot at securing a place in the final.

The winner of this game will advance straight to the final but the loser will get another bite at the cherry in a second qualifier against the winner of Wednesday’s eliminator between the Sunrisers and the Knight Riders. The latest outright betting is as follows:

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai topped the log at the end of the regular season with a record of 10 wins and 4 defeats. Despite losing their first match of the tournament (to RPS) they recovered to put a run of 6 straight wins together to charge to the top of the log and they were always in and around the top 2 thereafter.

Kieron Pollard (362) and Nitish Rana (333) are Mumbai’s leading run scorers in the tournament whilst with the ball Mitchell McClenaghan (18 wickets) and Jasprit Bumrah (15) have led a well balanced attack.

Rising Pune Supergiant

Rising Pune finished second on the log, 2 points behind Mumbai with a record of 9 wins and 5 defeats. They put a run of 5 wins from their last 6 matches together to force their way into the top 4 although their fate was still in the balance heading into their final game against Kings XI on Sunday, a test they passed with a 9 wicket win.

Jaydev Unadkat (21 wickets) has been in great form for RPS especially considering he has played just 10 matches, Imran Tahir is the next best with 18. Skipper Steven Smith is leading RPS run scorer with 420 and Rahul Tripathi is next best on 388.

Betting Angle

The exotics are the focus for a bet and Unadkat, who has been terrific with the ball for RPS gets the vote to be top away bowler. Mumbai’s bowling attack is even stronger in depth in my opinion and that could lead to no batsman scoring more than 70.5 runs.
