Newly crowned English Premier League Champions Chelsea host Watford at Stamford Bridge on Monday night and we take a look at the game from a betting perspective.
Chelsea v Watford – click here to bet
Chelsea’s late winner away to West Brom saw them secure the points they needed to clinch the title with two games to spare. They have won their last 4 League matches in succession and haven’t conceded a goal in their last 3. They have won 15 out of 17 home games this season scoring 46 goals and conceding just 13 at Stamford Bridge. 7 of their last 8 home victories have been by margins of 2 goals or more.
Watford have slipped to 16th on the table after a horror run which has seen them lose their last 4 matches in a row. The 40 point mark is always considered the magical target for teams to ensure Premier League survival and it seems as though when Watford hit that point they simply stopped playing. They were beaten 1-0 away by Everton on the weekend and that was their 6th successive loss on the road during which time they have failed to score a goal and have conceded 13. 4 out of Watford’s last 6 away defeats have been by 2 goals or more and in 18 away matches this season they have only scored 12 goals while conceding 35.
Chelsea beat Watford 2-1 away in the reverse leg earlier this season and the last time they hosted the Hornets in 2015 the game finished 2-2.
Suggested bet: Goals home team, 3 or more at 9/10.
With the title in the bag Chelsea will be looking to treat their home fans and it is hard to see Watford putting up anything other than token resistance. My money is on the Chelsea attack tearing them apart and scoring at least 3 goals.
