Washington @ Boston

Tip: Under 209.5 points (1.91)
The Wizards dug deep in Game 6 with john Wall coming up huge in the clutch. The home team has now won all 6 games in this series and the Wizards will have to defy both the series trend and history if they are to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. There have been 126 Game 7’s in playoff history with the home team winning 80% of those matches (101-26). The Wolf is expecting the series decider to be played out in a similar fashion to Game 6. The tempo slowed to virtually a halt as the Wizards fought to keep the series alive. From the opening tip neither team ran the floor as they had done in the previous 5 games and both sides were content to set up in the half court. The 39 first quarter points were the lowest in the series by a significant margin – almost 20 points below the 1st quarter average of 57.4 points.

The bench players will see very few minutes with Wall, Beal and Morris again set to play in excess of 40 minutes. That means preserving energy for the closing stages will be critical. It makes the Under a great bet and The Wolf is surprised to see the total set above 200. The Under is 5-2-1 in the Wizards last 8 following a ATS loss and they did a much better job at both rebounding and defending the 3-ball in Game 6. They will need to take that mentality with them to Boston as the Celtics have made 48 of 108 3-point attempts at the TD Garden – that’s almost 45%. The Wolf cannot see them shooting anywhere near that number in a deciding Game 7 and that will ensure a low total.

In relation to player props the Wizards will definitely look to get Gortat going early. He had just 4 points on three field goal attempts in Game 6 but was a beast on the glass with a game high 13 rebounds. Wall, Beal and Morris combined for 75 of the Wizards 92 points in that win and they will need more out of the supporting cast if they are to be a chance of winning this one – they will look for Gortat from the get-go. He is great value for a double double. Wolfy cannot see the Wizards generating enough offence on the road and we will see Boston hold on in a low scoring encounter.
