Delhi Daredevils v Royal Challengers Bangalore, Preview & Prediction

Rishabh Pant of the Delhi Daredevils hits over the top for six during match 5 of the Vivo 2017 Indian Premier League between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Delhi Daredevils held at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, India on the 8th April 2017 Photo by Ron Gaunt - IPL - Sportzpics

Delhi Daredevils host Royal Challengers Bangalore in Match 56 of the IPL on Sunday, the final match before the play offs and unfortunately the last game of the tournament for these two sides.

Daredevils

Although the Daredevils were playing for pride only in their latest outing at home to Rising Pune on Friday they put in a spirited display to see off a play off contender by 7 runs. Karun Nair top scored with 64 as the DD’s defended a bat first total of 168/8, a sixth win of the season alongside 7 defeats. A run of 4 wins from their last 5 has not been enough to catapult the Daredevils into a play off place but they will take positives from the performances of a number of their youngsters in the batting line up.

When the teams met in Bangalore back in Match 5 the Royal Challengers came out on top by a 15 run margin. RCB were without Kohli and AB de Villiers at the time and they posted 157/8 batting first (Jadhav 69). In reply Delhi ran out of steam despite Pant top scoring with 57.

Royal Challengers

RCB will finish the 2017 season with the wooden spoon. They have won just two of 13 matches so far with one no result and although the strength of their bowling attack was always open to question, their big guns with the bat have failed to fire on a consistent basis. RCB’s last win came in Match 20 away at Gujarat Lions and since then they have lost six and had a home fixture against Sunrisers washed out.

Betting Angle

We have a “choice game” to finish the regular season and gut feel is that RCB will end a very disappointing season on a high.
