The second leg of an IPL double header taking place on Saturday comes from Delhi where the Daredevils take on Mumbai Indians.
The Daredevils most recent outing came at home to Gujarat Lions on Thursday and their young batsmen did them proud, chasing down 209 needed for victory in just 17.3 overs for a 7 wicket win. Rishabh Pant top scored with 97, he was supported by Sanju Smason (61) and the Daredevils hit a whopping 20 maximums to complete back to back home wins after seeing off the Sunrisers at this stadium by 6 wickets earlier in the week. If the Daredevils are to make the play offs they still have plenty to do as their overall record now comprises of 4 wins and 6 defeats. They might need to win all four of their remaining games but they are still alive, just.
When these teams met in Match 25 in Mumbai the Daredevils bowled well and were very much in the game at the interval with a target of 143 for victory. Things quickly fell apart as Delhi lost their sixth wicket with just 24 runs on the board. South African’s Morris (52 not out) and Rabada (44) were quite superb but they had too much damage to repair and Mumbai ran out winners by 14 runs.
Mumbai’s most recent match came on 1st May at home to the Royal Challengers, they won it by 5 wickets and they now have eight wins and 2 defeats against their name. They are already pretty much play off certainties but three teams could still catch them and Mumbai will want a top two finish so they have two bites (if needed) at reaching the final. Their two defeats this season came home and away to Rising Pune, Gujarat Lions did take Mumbai to a Super Over and 7 other games were straight wins.

The Daredevils cracked 20 maximums in that amazing onslaught against the Lions on Thursday. Their kids come up against a much stronger bowling unit here but with the confidence of youth they might just be a bit overpriced to hit the most sixes regardless of who wins the game.
