Log leaders Mumbai Indians are in action in Match 28 of IPL on Monday when they host Rising Pune Supergiant.
Mumbai have won six and lost one of their seven matches, their best ever start to the regular season. Their only defeat so far came in Match 2, away to Monday’s opponent Rising Super Giant. Mumbai batted first in that game in Pune and made 184/8 in their 20 overs with 38 from Jos Buttler being the top score. RPS chased it down with Rahane (60) and Steve Smith (84 not out) the top performers in a 7 wicket win clinched with just 1 ball remaining. Since then Mumbai haven’t looked back and although they looked to be in trouble on Saturday when they posted a below par 142/8 at home to the Daredevils, the Mumbai bowlers had Delhi reeling at 24/6 and they survived a fight back to win by 14 runs.
After getting the better of Mumbai in Match 2 Rising Pune lost their next three matches. However their fortunes have been revived with back to back wins away to Royal Challengers and then at home to the Sunrisers to give them an overall record of 3 wins and 3 defeats. MS Dhoni sprang into form on Saturday at home to the Sunrisers, top scoring with 61 off 34 balls in a superbly timed knock which saw RPS chase down 177 needed for victory off the final ball of the innings with 6 wickets still intact.
