Gujarat Lions v Royal Challengers Bangalore, Preview & Prediction

Gujarat Lions host Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday , a meeting of two powerful sides who are both underperforming.

Gujarat Lions

Gujarat Lions are seventh on the log with a record of one win and three defeats. On Sunday they lost away to Mumbai Indians who chased down the Lions bat first total of 176/4 (McCullum 64) in a six wicket win. The Lions return to Rajkot, scene of their only success so far, a seven wicket win over RPS in Match 13 when they chased down a victory target of 172 with two overs remaining. One earlier home game at Rajkot was a big let down, a ten wicket hiding at the hands of KKR who chased down 183/4 with 31 balls remaining in Match 3.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

RCB are in even deeper trouble, bottom of the log with one win and four defeats from their five outings. Despite having Kohli and AB de Villiers back in the line up RCB suffered back to back home defeats to Mumbai and RPS over the long weekend. Two away fixtures so far also ended in defeat, away to Sunrisers (35 runs) in the first match of the tournament and then at the Kings XI (8 wickets) in Match 8.

Betting Angle

Although we are still in reasonably early stages of the tournament it’s very surprising to see these teams in the bottom two. Last season 16 points (8 wins) were needed from 14 matches to make the play offs so the time to start putting a run together is upon us.

Bangalore has thrown up some low scoring matches and it could be that RCB won’t mind travelling.  Rajkot has produced runs in two earlier games and I will look to any batsman to reach 75 or more.
