Last year’s finalists, the Lions, made heavy work of beating the Cheetahs away by 28-25 last weekend.  It was a match that never lived up to the expectations as far as tries and entertainment go but they did outscore their opponents by 3 tries to 1.  The Lions won 8 out of 10 home matches last season including the last 6 in a row and the games were generally entertaining with an average of 65 points and 8 tries each.

The Waratahs got their campaign off to a winning start with a narrow 19-13 win over the Force in Sydney.  They now start their road trip and did manage to win 4 of 7 away matches last season with an average of 7 tries and 52 points in each.  The Waratahs have won their last 2 matches on South African soil, away to the Stormers in 2016 and the Cheetahs the year before.

Lions 7/20

Draw 25/1

Waratahs 22/10

Lions -7.5 at 9/10

Waratahs +7.5 at 9/10

Suggested bet:  Lions -7.5 at 9/10

I am expecting an improvement from the Lions and I feel the intensity with which they will come at the Waratahs will prove too much for their opponents and I am taking them to win going away by 8 points or more.
