Titans v Lions, One Day Cup Preview & Prediction

The Titans and the Lions clash in the Momentum One Day Cup at Centurion on Sunday and the Titans openers come into the game in top form.

Both these teams have played two matches and they both have one win and one defeat to show for their efforts so far.

The Titans made history at Newlands on Friday, posting a bat first of 400/5, the biggest score in domestic one day cricket and it was largely due to a 313 run opening stand by Henry Davids and Jonathan Vandiar in 41.3 overs. The jaw dropping target was never in danger as the Titans won by 158 runs, earning a bonus point in the process. The Titans had started their campaign with a 5 wicket loss to the Dolphins at this venue but Davids and Vandiar were again in top form, sharing a 153 run opening stand.

The Lions were beaten by the Dolphins on Friday, going down by 27 runs in Durban in a game they probably should have won. They did beat the Warriors by 44 runs in Johannesburg in their opening match and Reeza Hendricks is a man in form with scores of 101 and 42 in the first two matches.

Recent Head to Head

Last season the Titans thumped the Lions by 8 wickets at the Wanderers but the return at Supersport Park was heading the way of the Lions only for the heavens to open and no result was possible.
