Johannesburg is the next stop for South Africa and Sri Lanka in their ODI series and if the Proteas win at the Wanderers they will clinch the series.
The Proteas won the first two matches of the series and with three games remaining the outright betting suggests we could be looking at a 5-0 whitewash. A clean sweep is now trading as short as 2/7 whilst a 4-1 correct score is a 5/2 chance. Sri Lanka can be backed at 80/1 to launch the mother of all comebacks and go on to win the series. The Proteas won the second ODI by 121 runs at Durban on Wednesday, a victory that was every bit as comfortable as the 8 wicket win in the first contest at Port Elizabeth. There were centuries for Faf du Plessis and David Miller at Kingsmead as the Proteas posted 307/6, a target which Sri Lanka never threatened.
The only bad news was injury to David Miller which will see him miss the remainder of the series and that could open the door for either Farhaan Behardien or Dwaine Pretorius to start at the Wanderers where the Proteas have won each of their last five ODI’s.
