The 2016/17 IRB World 7’s Series continues in Wellington, New Zealand on Saturday 28th January.
South Africa lead the series on 41 points after 2 legs having won in Dubai and finishing runners up to England in Cape Town. It is the English who are just behind them on 39 points and defending champions Fiji are a further 7 points back in 3rd. New Zealand are down in 5th place on 27 points after a disappointing start and they will be under pressure to raise their game in front of a demanding and expectant home crowd.

Let’s look at the pools for the Wellington 7’s before deciding on a tournament bet.
England, Kenya, Argentina, Papua New Guinea
Verdict: This looks England’s pool for the taking with Kenya and Argentina both off their best in Cape Town and Dubai.
South Africa, Fiji, Australia, Japan
Verdict: The group of death especially if Australia can up their game after a slow start to the series. The Blitzbokke will have to be at their best early.
New Zealand, USA, France, Samoa
Verdict: Another tough group and New Zealand will need to improve or they could face problems against opponents all of which can progress on their day.
Scotland, Wales, Russia, Canada
Verdict: A soft group when compared to groups B and C but it should be competitive. Scotland have started the series well and should top this group if they hold their form.
Suggested Bet: England win at 15/2
They were excellent in Cape Town and look like being contender’s week in and week out this season. They shouldn’t have problems in their group and of the likely winners I feel they offer the best value.
