Tiger Woods makes his long-awaited return to the PGA Tour when he tees it up at the Torrey Pines North and South courses this week.
Both courses are par 72 layouts and while the South Course is the longer of the pair there have been significant changes to the North Course which are said to have toughened it up. Being played over 2 courses it is hard to single out a characteristic that the winner must have and I will focus on current and course form with my picks. The field is strong with many of the top PGA professionals here and Dustin Johnson heads the betting after his strong closing weekend in Dubai.
2016 – Brandt Snedeker -6
2015 – Jason Day -9 *
2014 – Scott Stallings -9
2013 – Tiger Woods -14
2012 – Brandt Snedeker -16 *
D Johnson 17/2
35/1 and better the balance including Tiger Woods
Martin Laird at 55/1 – each way
Laird has course form with a pair of top 10’s in the last 2 years and he was also in the top 10 last week. He is long off the tee and looks a tasty price given his course and current form.
Scott Stallings at 80/1 – each way
Stallings is a past champion and has consistent course form. He played well last week for T8 finish at the Career Builder and he looks cracking value at current odds.
Brooks Koepka at 25/1 – each way
A big hitter who finished 2016 strong and is a player I am eyeing for a big 2017. He may be a bit rusty in his 1st start but I want him on my side this week.
