Super Rugby Round 3 Preview

5-4 so far this season, as we still try to figure out which teams are going to do what this season, and we get a step closer to knowing this week with a number of cracking matches to look forward to.

Blues vs Crusaders

Crusaders were shocking in their opening match, and while their kicking will no doubt be better than last week, they are still without Carter, and with Dagg moved to the bench the team sheet really doesn’t look all that strong. Going with an upset win for the Blues here.

Prediction: Blues by 2

Melbourne Rebels vs Cheetahs

Cheetahs make the trip up to Australia to face the Rebels who only this weekend get their campaign underway. 1st game rustiness could play a part, but I expect bigger things from the Rebels this season, and with it being Cheetahs 1st game on tour, I am going with the home side.

Prediction: Rebels by 3

Stormers vs Hurricanes

If that humiliating loss to the Lions doesn’t get the Stormers season going then nothing will. At home now, they simply have to win this game or their season could already be over.

Prediction: Stormers by 8

Chiefs vs Highlanders

While I see the Landers putting up a fight in a desperate attempt to get this season off to a huge start after the disappointment of last year, I can’t see them knocking over the defending champs at home here. Bridge too far for them I am afraid.

Prediction: Chiefs by 7

Waratahs vs Reds

Might as well flip a coin for this one so early on in the season. Could make a case for either team, who both go into this with wins. When in doubt pick the home team, so that is what I am going to do.

Prediction: Waratahs by 6

Western Force vs Brumbies

Probably the easiest pick of the weekend here, Brumbies were unlucky to lose last week, while the Force were knocked over pretty easily by the Tahs, and really don’t look up for it at the moment.

Prediction: Brumbies by 12

Bulls vs Lions

One team is 2 from 2, while the other is 0 from 2. So who do I back in this one? Why the latter of course. Only picking Bulls here because it is their first game at Loftus, and if anything is going to get them playing properly it’s their home ground. If they lose this one… well then it’s safe to say this will be a long, long, long season for all Bulls fans.

Prediction: Bulls by 4

Table topping Sharks get to enjoy a bye this week.
