Easter always brings with it the feeling that rugby season is well and truly here, so with my renewed confidence in making predictions after last weekends 5/7 correct calls including the Tahs win over the Blues, let’s get this Round 7 preview underway.
Highlanders vs Reds
With the team they have the Highlanders surely have to get a win sooner or later, and I am going with sooner. Backing them at home vs this Reds outfit.
Prediction: Highlanders by 9
Hurricanes vs Southern Kings
Expect another tough day at the office for the Kings who will need to defend much better if they want to keep the Canes who are fresh from a bye under 50.
Prediction: Hurricanes by 51
Chiefs vs Blues
Blues were very impressive early on in their derby matches, but fell away a bit since then against SA and Oz opposition. The early form they showed might return now that they are up against a NZ opponent again, and that’s why I am taking a gamble and picking Blues for this one.
Prediction: Blues by 1
Brumbies vs Bulls
Brumbies back at Canberra, and I can’t see them losing in front of their home fans this season.
Prediction: Brumbies by 10
Cheetahs vs Melbourne Rebels
Cheetahs have been playing some great attacking rugby as of late and will return to Bloem with a lot of confidence and momentum after their tour, and if Rebels can concede 10 tries to the Sharks, I shudder to think what this Cheetahs outfit will do to them.
Prediction: Cheetahs by 25
Stormers vs Crusaders
Your initial feeling would have to be Stormers with the home form they have been in, not to mention the Crusaders are without key players such as Read, and Carter, but I just can’t bring myself to back this team. Going Saders in a CRACKER!!
Prediction: Crusaders by 1
Waratahs vs Western Force
Tahs will be buoyed with confidence after their victory over the much fancied Blues last week, and in front of a few more fans (hopefully) this match, I see them going 2 for 2.
Prediction: Waratahs by 6
Sharks the team that gets to enjoy a bye this week.
