I’ve done my research and have prepared a preview I feel pretty confident about going into week 5. Let’s get started.
Highlanders vs Hurricanes
The Highlanders, a team many backed to finish on top of the NZ conference find themselves without a win heading into Round 5, and they’re up against a Hurricanes side that will be on a high after their 1 point victory over the Crusaders last week. Beware of the wounded though, Highlanders will have a lot to prove after their shock loss to the Cheetahs last week, and will be looking for a clinical performance against the Hurricanes, that’s why I’m going with the home team for this one.
Prediction: Highlanders by 8
Waratahs vs Cheetahs
A real tough call here, Cheetahs impressive last week, and Waratahs have been abysmal the whole season. I do however think that the Waratahs will knuckle down and scrape a victory here, it won’t be pretty, but back the home team for this one.
Prediction: Waratahs by 7
Southern Kings vs Chiefs
Kings last game before going on tour, and boy have they been impressive. Came so close to a losing BP against the Sharks and were even in with a chance at a win at one stage. Their defence has been another positive, and I can’t see many tries being scored against them if they can continue the way they’ve started. Chiefs though shouldn’t be beaten here, and while they might get more of a challenge than they’d expect, I’m sure the class they have will seal off a victory for them. Also let’s not forget it’s Kings first ever match against NZ opposition, and their style of rugby.
Prediction: Chiefs by 23
Crusaders vs Bulls
Now I’m sure a lot of people will get carried away with Bulls win last week and back them for this one, especially seeing as the Crusaders are still without a win, but let’s not forget that the Blues had 6 changes for that clash, it was a young inexperienced team, and the bulls still struggled to win. Crusaders will be that much better this weekend, and can you really see them losing 3 in a row?
Prediction: Crusaders by 11
Reds vs Force
Straight forward pick. Reds have shown that they mean business this season and shouldn’t have any trouble getting the win against a Force team that will also be rusty coming off their bye. That is all.
Prediction: Reds by 15
Sharks vs Brumbies
First game on tour is always a toughie, not that the Sharks at home weren’t tough enough for the Brumbies. Will definitely be a good contest, but by the end of the 80 we should see Jake’s men taste defeat for the first time this season. Sharks all the way in this one.
Prediction: Sharks by 9
Stormers, Rebels, and Blues have byes this week.
