South Africa’s chances at the T20 World Cup

It’s a big talking point in South Africa at the moment, and I am going to give everyone my opinion on the matter. Do South Africa really have what it takes to win the upcoming competition in the sub-continent, Sri Lanka to be more precise.

The answer is yes, of course we have a chance, and in fact I’ll go as far as to say that we are one of the favourites to lift the trophy in 3 weeks’ time.

The real question is will we win it, and while it’s almost impossible to know for sure as anything can happen in cricket, and also to know things like injuries that will occur and D/L matches but from what I can predict, the answer unfortunately is no.

While I feel that we will give it a good go, and I would love nothing more than to win a world cup of any format and finally put the ‘chokers’ tag to rest, I don’t believe we will be able to pull this tournament off in the sub-continent conditions.

The reason being is because I feel the extra spin in Sri Lanka will be detrimental to our batting order, and also makes our fast bowlers, who we rely on so much to win matches less affective.

So who do I think will win it? I don’t have an exact name in mind, but I do feel that it will be one of the 3 major Asian sides (India, Sri Lanka, or Pakistan)

Agree or disagree? Let me know in the comments below.
